We are the largest veterinary hospital in North Queensland and the only referral center north of the Sunshine Coast. Our hospital runs both a General Practice service, and a multi-disciplinary referral service for those extra tricky cases. Whether your pet needs a health check, vaccination, complex surgery, a CT scan, or specialist medical diagnostics and treatment, we have you covered.
As the teaching hospital for the James Cook University School of Veterinary and Biomedical Science, we also provide clinical training for final year veterinary students. You may see our students working under the supervision of our qualified clinicians, and your pets will certainly benefit from the extra care and TLC they provide.
Our History
JCU Vet was established in late 2009, and has purpose-built state of the art diagnostic, medical and surgical facilities.
The hospital was created to provide exceptional clinical tuition to final year veterinary science students and a comprehensive veterinary referral service to the North Queensland Community.
We pride ourselves on contributing to the next generation of veterinarians, and we are dedicated to helping mould clinicians who are competent, confident, and committed to helping us raise the industry to new heights.
With our cohort of veterinary students steadily increasing, we look forward to the hospital’s future and the opportunity to continue to bring innovative medicine and exceptional care to the surrounding community.
